Brookings man ID'd as victim of fatal crash discovered in Sioux Falls field

Police said the man was ejected from the vehicle when it left the roadway and rolled.

A Brookings man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash that was discovered by a passerby in early December.

Cody Hoss, 25, was killed in the crash, police said on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Shortly before 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 5, officers with the Sioux Falls Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of 259th Street and 471st Avenue, the northernmost edge of city limits, for a report of a crash. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a Ford F150 overturned in the middle of a field and a deceased male.

Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said that Hoss' vehicle left the roadway and rolled, ejecting Hoss, who was the only person in the vehicle.

Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The Sioux Falls Police Department conducted the investigation.
