SIOUX FALLS — Levitt at the Falls will hold more than four dozen concerts at the downtown venue this summer, all of which come without cost to attendees, the organization announced Thursday, May 4.

The 2023 outdoor summer concert series will kick off at the Levitt Shell on Friday, June 2, and feature two to four performances each week through Saturday, Sept. 9.

Opening night will feature acclaimed blues saxophonist and vocalist Vanessa Collier, while closing night will feature Celtic rock favorites the Young Dubliners.

Other season concert highlights include acclaimed international artists Pascuala Ilabaca and Doolin’, South Dakota rock and roll hall of famers and Indigenous hip-hop artists Cocoa Sarai and Mato Wayuhi, as well as a special Fourth of July performance by the U.S. Army Band’s Six-String Soldiers and Grammy-nominated mother and son artists Nnenna and Pierce Freelon.

Levitt at the Falls said this year’s lineup will have a little bit of something for everyone, consisting of local, regional, national and international artists specializing in a variety of genres and musical styles. Performances will include Americana, blues, country, hip-hop, homegrown, indie vibe, rock and roll, women of song and world music.

Music will start at 7 p.m. for each event, and all Levitt events will include opening acts as well as headlining bands, a variety of food vendors and drinks available from JJ’s Wine & Spirits. Each concert will be live-streamed online and projected on the large video board onsite as part of a partnership with South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

In addition to evening shows, the organization is returning its Family Series performances, with 10:30 a.m. concerts on five select Saturdays.

“There is much to celebrate and something for everyone to take part in during this much-anticipated 2023 summer season,” said Nancy Halverson, executive director of Levitt at the Falls.
