SIOUX FALLS — One man was stabbed Monday night, Jan. 23, during an attempted robbery in central Sioux Falls.

According to police spokesman Sam Clemens, the victim was walking in the 600 block of West 11th Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. when a group of three men attempted to take the victim’s backpack.

During the struggle, Clemens said the victim fell to the ground and that one suspect produced a knife, slashing the victim’s hand. The three suspects then took off running, leaving the backpack behind.

The victim eventually sought medical attention at a Sioux Falls hospital, where the slashing was reported to police. Clemens said the victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.

The victim didn’t have much information to provide to authorities, Clemens said, and police have not yet made an arrest in the case.
