SIOUX FALLS — A pedestrian suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run incident in downtown Sioux Falls early Sunday, March 18.

The pedestrian was crossing 9th Street just east of Philips Avenue about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday and was struck by the driver of a pickup truck. The driver fled the scene but witnesses and surveillance video were able to provide police with a description, police spokesman Sam Clemens said Monday.

That pick up was spotted and stopped by police about 1:40 a.m. near the intersection of 12th Street and Westport Avenue.

“The truck matched the description of the truck that was involved in that hit and run with the pedestrian. The damage matched up. The description of the driver matched. Everything just fell into place,” Clemens said.

Dalton Lane Bynum, 23, of Parker was arrested and charged with DWI, felony hit and run, reckless driving, vehicular battery and driving without insurance.
