SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls police have more questions than answers about a shooting on the city’s west side early Monday, Dec. 12.
Police department spokesperson Sam Clemens said a 23-year-old man was shot in the face in the 5800 block of West Christopher Place, which is near Dunham Park.
Police were called to the 5200 block of West 12th Street around 2 a.m. where they found the victim and another person, Clemens said. The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.
The victim was not able to communicate. The second person at the scene was able to give only rough details about the location. Clemens said that about the only thing officers were able to determine was that the pair had met up with another group of people where the shooting occurred.
“If anybody has information we’d like them to call police or Crimestoppers,” he said.

Additionally, if residents living in the area have security cameras, they may have captured useful information about the incident, even if it’s just people coming and going, he said.
“We don’t know what it was about, what led up to that, why they were together,” he said. “We just have a lot of questions at this point that we don’t have answers to.”
