The Queen Bee Club is on a hot streak.
Or is it a cold streak?
Depends upon which side of the deal you’re on.
The jackpot in the Queen Bee Club progressive raffle is up to $12,282 as of Thursday, Dec. 15.
The weekly drawing at Remedy Brewing is a fundraiser for The Banquet, an ecumenical meal ministry that serves 16 meals each week between two locations.

The club is a twist on the “chase the ace” style raffles, where the person whose ticket is selected then chooses one from a deck of cards.
Pull the queen of clubs to win the jackpot. If not, it rolls over to the next week.
Here’s where the streak comes in. The Queen Bee Club started in February and it’s still going.
There are only seven cards left.
“It was a slow start to be honest,” said Tamera Jerke-Liesinger, executive director of The Banquet. “As the pot has gotten bigger the past few weeks, it’s really taken off. We’ve had great attendance.”
And it’s sure to grow even further before the drawing at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Remedy Brewing. Ticket sales start at 5:30 p.m.
The Banquet receives 50% of the proceeds. So far that’s more than $14,000.
The person whose ticket is drawn gets 10% no matter what. That leaves 40% for the jackpot.

There is one oddity to the fundraiser. Why the queen of clubs?
One of Remedy’s signature brews is the Queen Bee, an imperial cream ale.
That takes it down to the four queens.
No matter which queen, what are the odds that she makes it another round?
“We’ve gone 46 weeks now so we are like, ‘Let’s just ride it out the end,’” said Jerke-Liesinger. “If it goes this Tuesday, it’s been a great run.”
Tickets are $5 for 10 tickets or $10 for 25 tickets.
Remedy Brewing is in the 8th & Railroad Center, 401 E. 8th St., Suite #120 .
