Sioux Falls man charged with assaulting, kidnapping three minors

Police say that the three children were related to the suspect.

SIOUX FALLS — A Sioux Falls man is facing charges of cruelty to a minor and kidnapping after police say he assaulted three children.

Cass Hoyt Long, Jr., 42, was arrested on Sunday, May 7, after police say he punched and strangled a 15-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl who are related to him. The incident happened in the 800 block of North Duluth Avenue.

There were no serious physical injuries, police spokesman Sam Clemens said during a briefing on Monday, May 8.

Long was charged with aggravated assault domestic, simple assault domestic and kidnapping, Clemens said.
