SIOUX FALLS — A group of people handling guns on Saturday, April 1, led to a dead dog and charges against a Sioux Falls man.

Police department spokesman Sam Clemens said Luke Allen Ouelette, 21, was at a home in the 3300 block of South Westbrook Lane in southwest Sioux Falls about 6:30 p.m.

“A few people were inside a home and they were handling guns, firearms, one of them ended up loading it and inadvertently shot the dog that was in the house,” Clemens said. “The dog died.”

Ouelette was charged with cruelty to animals, a felony, as well as misdemeanor possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated and reckless discharge of a firearm.
