SIOUX FALLS — A Sioux Falls man is facing felony assault charges after police say he followed and blocked a Lyft driver and passenger in a cul-de-sac and threatened them with a gun.
Police spokesman Sam Clemens said the incident apparently began when somebody banged on the door of Chaun Patrick Brison, 53, on Saturday, May 20.
“That for some reason, alarmed him or concerned him,” said Clemens.
A 29-year-old woman living in the same neighborhood had just left with friends to go downtown. While they were driving they noticed a white truck following them.
The woman decided to go home about 11 p.m. and was getting a ride from Lyft when she noticed the same white truck following them again.

“She didn’t want to go home, she had concerns about why this person was following them,” Clemens said.
The driver, 36, detoured through the neighborhood to avoid dropping off the woman and they ended up at a cul-de-sac in the 3200 block of East Micah Lane.
Brison was driving the truck and blocked the road. He got out of the truck and pointed a gun at the two people in the Lyft, said Clemens.
The victims called police and when they arrived Brison was still there.
Brison was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
“He didn’t really have a reason why, he just believed that they had somehow been connected to the person who had banged on the door, knocked on his door, earlier in the day,” Clemens said. “I don’t know what he thought was going on.”
