Sioux Falls under a snow alert following nearly 6 inches fell overnight

Vehicles are subject to ticketing and towing at various times as plowing continues.

SIOUX FALLS — The City of Sioux Falls issued a snow alert Thursday, Jan. 19, after approximately six inches of snow fell overnight.
Plowing began Wednesday on emergency snow routes.
Work in Zone 3, the outer circle of the city, is underway and will continue until all routes are cleared. Vehicles are subject to ticketing and towing until the streets are plowed.
In Zone 2, the core of the city, plowing of east/west streets will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday. Vehicles on these streets are subject to ticketing and towing until clear or 5 a.m. Friday, whichever is earlier.
North/south street clearing will begin at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20. Ticketing and towing will be in effect until cleared or 5 p.m., whichever is earlier.
Crews will begin snow pickup in Zone 1 - downtown - on Saturday, Jan. 21. Vehicles parked in Zone 1 will be subject to ticketing and towing between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday. During a snow alert, parking is prohibited in the downtown area between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.
