SIOUX FALLS — Sometimes they make it easy.
Police say a Sioux Falls man pulled into the parking lot of Billion Chevrolet on West 12th Street on Sunday, Feb. 26, in a stolen truck — just as authorities were on site investigating an overnight burglary and vandalism at the dealership.
Clifton Reed American Horse, 56, was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, grand theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and intentional damage, police spokesperson Sam Clemens said during the regular media briefing on Monday, Feb. 27.
The dealership’s staff called police Sunday morning when they arrived to find damage in the showroom, broken windows and other vandalism. After taking an inventory of the vehicles, they discovered a missing truck.
“A short time later, that (truck) came driving up and a guy got out of it,” Clemens said. “Turns out he had stolen that and he had quite a few other car keys from the cars that were parked at the lot.”

Clemens said detectives aren’t sure if American Horse had accomplices in the crime.
“We don’t know why he came back,” Clemens said.
