SIOUX FALLS — City Clerk Tom Greco is leaving his post to replace the retiring Carol Muller as the top administrator for Minnehaha County,

The county announced changes in a statement on Friday, March 24. The Minnehaha County Commission will be asked to approve Greco's hiring at their regular meeting on Tuesday.

Muller has been with the county since 2010, when she was hired as the human services director. She took over the job as county commission administrative officer in 2015.

“We’re sad to see her go,” said Commission Chairwoman Jean Bender.

Muller said in an interview that she gave the commission her final decision to retire late last year.

A field of about 60 candidates applied for the job, which Bender said was a “strong pool” from which to choose.

Interviews were then completed in the past few weeks.

Greco has been the city clerk since 2016. He is a graduate of West Point and holds a master’s degree from the University of Missouri and Georgetown University. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2015 after 20 years of active duty.

He will start the new job on May 15. Muller will step down on June 23.

Muller said on Friday that she plans to travel, spend more time with family and enjoy other activities.

Bender wouldn’t say how many finalists were interviewed and said Greco's salary would be released on Tuesday when the board finalizes the hiring.
