SIOUX FALLS — Three men armed with a gun and machete broke into a home in northwest Sioux Falls on Sunday, Feb. 5, assaulted the occupants and stole money and a truck.

Police spokesman Sam Clemens said there were two men in the home in the 6500 block of West Grove Place just after 2 p.m.

“There was a knock at the door. They were expecting another person to show up. When the victim opened the door there were three guys there. One of them immediately punched him and they basically came inside,” Clemens said.

The victims were punched several times and hit with the flat side of the machete. One of the men required medical attention for a cut on his wrist from the machete.

The trio searched the home and took money, a wallet and the truck parked outside.

“They are not sure why they were targeted,” Clemens said. “We don’t have much on the suspects. They have much of a description at all.”
