SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Forum Communications Co. will be expanding to the Sioux Falls market through a television acquisition, the company announced Wednesday, Nov. 23.

The company has reached an agreement with JF Broadcasting LLC to acquire KWSD(TV) and KCWS-LD in the Sioux Falls market, enabling Forum Communications to expand its coverage in South Dakota’s most populous television market. The acquisition of KWSD, a full-power station, and its companion low-power station KCWS, will allow Forum Communications to further strengthen its commitment to providing local news, weather, sports and information coverage to communities in its footprint, according to a news release.

“Sioux Falls is a vibrant, fast-growing community," Forum Communications Vice President of Broadcast Joshua Rohrer said in a news release. "We are very excited to bring our 100-plus years of local journalism, broadcasting and publishing to the area. The ability to bring together all these resources promises to provide Sioux Falls with news, information and entertainment from a reliable, regionally owned media organization. Our designs will bring an alternative source and presentation of news largely not seen today.

"This is an exciting new chapter for our company, and we believe, the Sioux Falls area.”

The acquisitions of KWSD and KCWS-LD are subject to receipt of regulatory and other approvals.
