SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana now knows who will lead it into the Division-I men's hockey era.
The Vikings are set to hire Minnesota assistant Garrett Raboin as the programs first-ever coach, multiple sources have told the Herald.
An official announcement is expected Tuesday.
Raboin, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., played defense for four seasons at St. Cloud State, serving as team captain as both a junior and senior.

Raboin began his coaching career in 2012 at St. Cloud State under head coach Bob Motzko. He spent six seasons with the Huskies, then followed Motzko to Minnesota in 2018.

Raboin helped the Gophers to the NCAA Frozen Four this spring.
Augustana is set to begin play as an independent program in the fall of 2023.
It already has a new arena in the works. The plan is for the 3,000-seat Midco Arena to be open in time for the 2023-24 season.
Then, the Vikings will search for conference affiliation. The Vikings are located in the footprint of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and the Central Collegiate Hockey Conference.
