Zech Lambert

Sports Reporter

Zech Lambert is a sports reporter for the Mitchell Republic.

He joined the Mitchell Republic in July 2022 after graduating from Penn State University in May 2022 with a degree in broadcast journalism, a minor in sports studies and a sports journalism certificate.

He currently covers a wide range of sports including Dakota Wesleyan football, Mitchell High School girls basketball and other prep and collegiate sports throughout South Dakota. He also led the Inside the Missouri Valley content, a weekly look around the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

At Penn State, he was involved with the student newspaper, The Daily Collegian, where he spent time as the sports editor as well as a men's hockey reporter. He was involved in student radio, too. He covered Penn State football for student radio, as well as for the Philadelphia Inquirer as a freelancer.

Growing up in eastern Pennsylvania, Lambert gained a background in a variety of sports, including baseball, basketball and football.

Lambert currently lives in Mitchell with his dog, Owen, and enjoys disc golfing and playing basketball outside of work.
